Hire Purchase - What is a Hire Purchase

Posted in Vehicle Hire by Admin on May 25th, 2008

A hire purchase is a type of loan typically used to purchase large items. Cars are a popular item to use a hire purchase on but the consumer should be aware of what exactly a hire purchase is and what the terms of the sale are. Each financial institution that offers hire purchase loans has various terms that can vary between lenders. It is important for consumers to be fully aware of the terms before committing to this type of loan to ensure that this is the best option for purchase. Consumers should research all car loan options to determine which method is the best for their particular purchase.

With a hire purchase, an initial deposit is made to the lending source. Monthly payments are then made which include the total amount of the purchase price plus an agreed upon interest rate. When looking for a hire purchase, it is important to shop around as many financial institutions will compete for business by offering lower interest rates. It is in the consumer’s best interest to choose the hire purchase with the lowest interest rate and the least amount of associated fees.

At the end of the hire purchase, the consumer then has the ability to own the vehicle in total. Make sure to read all the fine print of a hire purchase agreement before committing to it. There may be additional fees that will make a low interest hire purchase more expensive than one with a higher interest rate but with now additional fees. At the end of the term for the hire purchase, some lending companies will require a fee to complete the transaction. This fee for the hire purchase can sometimes be expensive so be sure that the terms are known and the total purchase price, including interest on the hire purchase, penalties and fees are known. Choose the hire purchase option that has the lowest total price at the end of the term.

With a hire purchase, the item is not owned by the buyer until the entire sum of the money due is paid, in full, to the lender. Until such time, the financial institution that holds the hire purchase loan is the owner of the vehicle. The downside to this is that the vehicle can not be modified in any way prior to complete ownership without the authorization of the lender. This can be cumbersome to a consumer who may want to change various items in the vehicle such as modifying the stereo components or changing the paint color. If there is any damage done to the vehicle during the term of the hire purchase, the borrower is completely liable for repairing the damage.

Making timely payments for the full amount of the monthly installment is particularly important when dealing with a hire purchase. The lender has complete authority to repossess the vehicle at any time prior to the pay off of the loan if payments are not received on time and for the full monthly installment. People who have good credit and a stable source of income can benefit from a hire purchase if they are confident that the payments will be made on time. However, anyone who has had trouble making payments on time in the past may want to research other options that provide a bit more flexibility in payment.

The Remarkable Sports Car

Posted in Sports Car by Admin on May 24th, 2008

Mazda provided the automotive world with an affordable true sports car with its Mazda Miata. This vehicle was developed and designed in the California studio of Mazda and the complete manufacturing and production was really and entirely done in the company’s factory in Japan. This vehicle has certainly garnered such a quite large interest in the automobile industry. And throughout the world, this vehicle has gained much popularity.

The Mazda Miata comes in a small sized car with clean lines, a simple drivetrain, an outstanding handling, and a very unpretentious character and appeal. Since its introduction, this vehicle has always maintained its world-class appeal, and at present continues to be the phenomenon that it is. This vehicle has been continuously credited for reviving the passion for roadsters, and at the same time it has achieved other vehicle manufacturers to pursue ideas like the Mazda Miata. It could be accounted for the creation of other vehicles like the Dodge Viper, the Volkswagen New Beetle, the new Ford Thunderbird, the Chrysler PT Cruiser, and the Chevrolet SSR. After its introduction, the Mazda Miata entered countless of Top 10 lists for vehicles.

It was first introduced in 1989 as a 1990 model. The Mazda Miata resembled the early 1960s Lotus Elan. Even if it was not quite quick, this Mazda Miata became a sensation. It was a relatively small and light vehicle with just an 89.2 inch wheelbase and 155.2 inches overall. Everything it held had a light touch making this quite a remarkable car. It had an optional power steering feature, and given as a standard feature was the manual rack-and-pinion set up that reacted on impulse to steering inputs. It reacted with subtle details about what was going on with its tires. The first of its kind was powered by a 1.6 liter dual-overhead cam that was capable of powering up to 116 horsepower.

As the years went on, the Mazda Miata, a sports car that could take in two passengers, went through different changes. Added as options were antilock brakes, and a four-speed automatic transmission. Also, its paint had changed in color and hue, plus an addition of leather seating, a rear suspension cross brace, a roof liner and defroster for its hardtop, a sensory sound system, passenger-side airbags, power steering, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power windows, power mirrors, aluminum alloy wheels, cruise control, power door locks, remote keyless entry, Bilstein shock absorbers, and BBS wheels. The corporate logo was also mounted on its nose.

A new Mazda Miata is soon bound to roll its way to the streets and highways this 2006 or 2007. It is built on a modified version of Mazda’s RX8 sports car platform. This time, it has a 2.0 liter twincam 4-cylinder engine. It will sport a more rounded and serious look with its flared wheel arches, fuller body sides, and more aggressive looking nose. It will offer a little bit more space and room. Also, torso side airbags will be added in.

Where Are Classic Car Parts These Days

Posted in Classic Car by Admin on May 23rd, 2008

Looking to restore a classic car? Remember riding in those big roomy 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s Pontiac’s, Ford’s, Buick’s and Mercury’s? You know, those big American cars? Remember back when you didn’t even have to wear a seatbelt when you were a kid? You could lay in the back seat on a long trip and have plenty of room to stretch when the road seemed endless. Are we there yet?

Remember when your father drove into a gas station bay to fill up and the attendant not only put the gas in, he washed the windows, checked the oil and air and always had a lollipop for the kids. Can we have some of those days back? We want our roomy, steel, big engined cars back! We want to hit the road with some power! Oh yes, and let’s have those old fashioned gas prices back too!

Ah the memories of being 4 years old and sitting in the back seat of my dad’s 1967 red Pontiac Catalina convertible, feeling the wind all over me while I tried to keep a super sized jawbreaker in my mouth. Don’t want to get sticky goo all over the new seats! What about the sounds cars made as they passed yours? The whooshing sound that you tried to determine if it was you passing them or them passing you? What else does a kid think about when they are a passive passenger in the back?

The freedom of contemplation, where is that now? Today, kid’s in cars have mini TV’s, Playstations, private headphones for music; entertainment at its’ most technical while on the road. Bring the good old days back. Restore a classic car and live a little freer. Visit us at Sunman Classic Ford Supply and take a walk down memory lane.

Know of any classic cars parked behind a barn, left in a field, or in your grandma’s garage? Drop us a line and tell us what you know. We’re always looking for classic Ford’s, Mercury’s and Lincoln’s, along with Chevrolet, Pontiac and others, to save for the future enthusiast.

Cynthia Arrington is owner of Sunman Classic Ford Supply, a company that is dedicated to the preservation of classic Ford, Mercury and Lincoln automobiles.
