Yet Another Review of Magellan Roadmate 1210

Posted in Communications by editor

There is a problem with some of the reviews of the Magellan RoadMate 1210 (that is commonly displayed on some well-known review websites). The author assumes that you have a good understanding about the instrument. Most of the GPS navigation system reviews are written in such a manner that simply reading them might induce giddiness into the heads of many! The authors ensure that all the prominent technical mumbo-jumbo that is accessible to the entire humankind is deployed beautifully into their review.

In here, I will not follow their footsteps – I will be taking an alternate approach and will be doing a review on Magellan RoadMate 1210.

Allow me to introduce the product – the Magellan RoadMate 1210 is a consumer-grade GPS navigation system that can be affixed in your car. GPS navigation systems will help you in finding routes – if you wish to move from point A to point B you will have to key-in the current and the existing destination into the device. The most easily accessible roadmap will be displayed to you.

Displaying the route is one thing, but the device will literally guide you along the route until you safely reach your destination.

Does that sound cool? Well, if it does please read on. The manufacturer has incorporated a simple OneTouch menu system into the device. This will simplify the entire ordeal manifold. No one is born as a technology enthusiast – everyone reads the instruction manuals and invests on newer products in order to harness the required knowledge. The inclusion of the OneTouch menu system is a fine example to that age-old paradigm “keep it simple and stupid”.

Not everyone would like to “install” the Magellan RoadMate 1210 in his or her vehicles’. Some might like to carry it with themselves – the device is perfectly pocketable thanks to the 3.1×3.7×7 configuration. (H x W x D in inches)

The company is charging you $139 currently – premium features always come with a price tag. For $139 you cannot expect more, yet the company is clever enough to incorporate some never-before seen features like QuickSpell smart city search and comprehensive maps of the US, Hawaii and PR (Puerto Rico).

Do not sadden because you will be able to purchase and display additional maps in the device. Imagine the Magellan RoadMate 1210 listing all the available routes between you and your destination with ample importance to the display of various points of interests – a modern technological marvel in action!

Many critics have welcomed the inclusion of a patch antenna in the Magellan RoadMate 1210. Here is something else that might brighten up your day – the device is perfectly compatible with Micro SD cards.

Thus you are never going to experience that dreaded “memory full” error message. GPS accuracy is nothing to be applauded at – it is merely three to five meters. The Magellan RoadMate boasts of a high battery life; according to the manufacturers, the existing value is three hours. Suitable accessories that will make it a perfect companion for your car is also included with the product!
